Remembering the Vilna Ghetto: Sixty Years Later

VILNIUS, LITHUANIA

September 29, 2003

Marking 60 years since the liquidation of the Vilna ghetto, Lithuanian members of parliament, including the president, prime minister, and chairman of the parliament, paid tribute to the tens of thousands of Jews murdered here during the Holocaust. On September 23, Vilna's Chief Rabbi and Chabad representative Sholom Ber Krinsky joined speaker of the Knesset Reuven Rivlin and a delegation of leading rabbis from Israel at the various memorial events held in parliament at two memorial sites and the President's office, where Rabbi Krinsky addressed participants.
